What to Pack for a Chauffeur-Driven Airport Transfer (Luggage Guide)

2026 · 4 min read

The one detail that trips up more airport transfer bookings than anything else isn't the pickup time — it's luggage. Booking a vehicle that's slightly too small for your bags is an easy, avoidable mistake. Here's how to get it right.

Know the two categories of luggage

Vehicle capacity is based on two separate types of bags: large suitcases (checked luggage) and carry-on bags (smaller bags, backpacks, laptop bags). Every vehicle in our fleet has a limit for each, and — usefully — the two are flexible against each other: fewer large suitcases means more room for carry-ons, and vice versa.

Rough guide by vehicle

  • Luxury Sedan — best for 1-2 large suitcases plus carry-ons. Ideal for solo travellers or couples.
  • Luxury People Mover — comfortably fits a family's worth of luggage alongside more passengers.
  • Luxury Van — the go-to for groups, golf clubs, ski gear, or anyone travelling with more than the usual amount of luggage.
Our instant quote calculator won't let you select a vehicle that can't actually fit your luggage — it's built into the booking flow.

Oversized and unusual items

Golf bags, surfboards, musical instruments, or oversized boxes don't fit neatly into a "suitcase" count. If you're travelling with anything unusual, it's worth mentioning it in the booking notes or getting in touch directly — we'll recommend the right vehicle rather than have you guess.

Why this matters more than people expect

A booked vehicle that turns up too small for your luggage isn't just inconvenient — it can mean bags travelling on laps, blocked visibility, or in the worst case, needing to arrange a second vehicle on the spot. Getting the vehicle size right at booking avoids all of that.
